The local high school football team in Rachel Sawyer's (Chabert) Alabama hometown hasn't won a game in 12 years--ever since then-coach Buster Schuler's (O'Quinn) son died on the playing field. Rachel figures it wouldn't hurt to pray for a miracle and her prayers are answered when Coach Schuler returns and agrees to coach the team again.

Play4film's point of view:
"Hometown Legend" is one of those numerous films which mixes sport with the pains of growing up, yet it is undeniable that it does so in the right way and in an innovative manner. A penniless youngster finds a reason for his existence in the teaching of a coach who is able to make him toe the line. This film's limited production budget didn't permit it the possibility to reach the public it deserved. Its lead actors perform well.
