Play4film's point of view:
“The Desperate Hours” is a text book thriller in terms of its dilation of time, its evocative sense of claustrophobia and the director’s choice of a restricted setting. William Wyler based this movie on a book written by Joseph Hayes, who also adapted it for the screen, which tells the story of three escaped convicts who take shelter in a family’s home, causing tension and fear. Humphrey Bogart and Fredric March are at their best. Michael Cimino directed a remake in 1990.
